OPI Mariah Carey Liquid Sand Collection
The other day I shared with you the first of the swatches for OPI with Mariah Carey Liquid Sand Collection. Ready for more?
Here we go!
(Today was not a great day for pictures, haha, sorry about that!)
Stay the Night: Liquid Sand, a matte black “sand” texture with raspberry red glitter and somehow little bits of silver glitter have shown up too – though you won’t be able to tell from the pictures. Covers at 2 coats
Can’t Let Go: Liquid Sand, packed with multitudes of micro and mini purple glitters with a dash of medium hexagonal purple glitter, suspended in royal purple translucent nail color. Covers at 2, but I recommend 3 coats for best coverage.
Get Your Number: Liquid Sand, micro and regular sized holographic glitter suspended in a medium blue translucent base. 3 coats is a must.
The Impossible: Liquid Sand, fuchsia-red translucent base with silver micro glitter, holographic micro glitter, sporadic red hexagonal glitter, and holographic stars. I could have done without the stars myself. Things like that are just too difficult to get on in a normal circumstance. Break out your tweezers and put them on in specific spots otherwise. I also think it cheapens the look of this color. 2 coats for average coverage, 3 for the best effect.
Sprung: Shimmering copper. You’ll see glints of of gold, medium pink, orange, and, of course, copper. 3 coats for max. coverage.
Anti-Bleak: Medium/dark plum purple. Nothing is overly unique about this color but I still love it. I think everyone’s into this shade so most lines carry multiples of ones similar to each other.
Pink Yet Lavender: Light pink medium hexagonal glitter mixed with holographic microglitter suspended in a clear base. It’s glitter, it’s pretty, but I’m not that interesting.
A Butterfly Moment: Mauvey rose with somewhat of a golden pink pearlescent shine. 2 coats and be careful for possible bubbling.
As much as I love the Liquid Sands, the rest of the collection is so-so. None of the other colors stand out so much that I think I would need to have them in my set. Don’t get me wrong, they are pretty and all, but if you’re going to get something – why not go for the fun, different ones?! Matte glitter and textured nails are definitely making an impact these days!
My favorite Liquid Sand is Stay the Night. As for the normal formula, Sprung would be my top pick as I feel it is somewhat unique.
Can I also just take a second to say that I don’t understand the names of these colors! Granted I’m not a huge Mariah fan, but I did grow up with her music so I thought it’d be a little familiar. The only one I get is A Butterfly Moment only because I know she’s into that gooey, weird butterflies and rainbows jazz. Pink Yet Lavender? No, it’s just pink glitter, there’s no confusion there. I thought I knew a decent amount about Mariah Carey but apparently not enough to understand these names. Any input?
How do you feel about the new matte and/or textured nail craze?
