What’s Up, Whiskers?

Posted In: e.l.f. - eyes. lips. face.

Let’s be real here, we all sprout some unsightly, long freaky hairs on our face. It’s not unusual, all you gotta do it break out your tweezers and take care of it. Whatevs, it’s natural! But what’s not natural? Long freaky hairs leftover on your face from your makeup brush! YICK!

I’m not some professional brush fiend, okay? I’m not going to sit here and tell you to blow your paychecks on makeup brushes, that’s ridiculous. Please, you’ve got better things to spend your money on – like makeup for the brushes ;) Cheaper to midgrade brushes have proven to be just fine –  just fine for my taste at least! I’ve never really encountered many problems with brushes. Overtime, even the cheapest of brushes have gotten better. Those crappy ones they throw in the makeup kits are even pretty decent now! But what I’m about to show you should never happen…ever.

Bristle loss after three tugs on the side.

When I first got this brush, I just thought that there were some longer bristles. I was in a hurry to get ready for work so trimming them would be a task for later. I swirled this around my mineral foundation, applied it to my skin, and…oh my gosh, whiskers! There was hair falling out all over the place from this brush and just sticking right on my face. Not only did it look so stupid, it tickled! It’s like when you get hair stuck to your lipstick/gloss and you struggle to get it loose. Why would these prove to be such a challenge to remove?!

Then I thought, “okay, this is new, it’s probably gotta shed a of the extra hairs a little bit.” So I kept pulling and pulling and pulling and pulling and pulling and pulling. It all just keeps coming out! Fewer hair started coming out so I decided to give this a try a few more days in a row. Sure I didn’t have as much hair as the first day, but the point is, I shouldn’t have ANY of these hair bristles on my face!

I’ve had my fair share of e.l.f. makeup brushes and haven’t had any experience like this before with them. Maybe this one is just a fluke? I’m really not sure, but I’m not interested in trying another one in order to feel like “The Bearded Lady Circus Sideshow”.

I’ll count this as a loss of my $3 and move along!

Drink It In

Bellaroma Boutique Exfoliating Whipped Coffee Butter - Bathhouse Butter

Bellaroma Boutique Exfoliating Whipped Coffee Butter – Bathhouse Butter

Goodness gracious, Bellaroma did it again! This exfoliating whipped butter is a skin obsessed – coffee lovers dream  conveniently placed in a 4oz. jar.

Can I be totally honest here? Okay, I bought this for my husband to begin with but…he has yet to try it, haha! He saw this on the Bellaroma shoppe and was begging me to get it for him. Since we got it, he has forgotten about his goody bin of stuff to try so I scarfed it up for myself. So you can’t blame me for taking it, right?! ;)

This whipped butter is a delectable blend of creamy moisturize with subtle exfoliation. You’re not going to be packed with grit to give you a full out peel type deal, but you’re still roughing up that top layer so you can get the moisture your skin needs! Plus, the caffeine & antioxidants from the coffee start you on the road to tighter, firmer skin.

Let’s talk about my favorite part almost everything – the smell! Oh good golly Miss Molly, this is lovely! It’s like a mocha coffee rush! Real, fresh coffee grounds are a staple mixed in with a creamy chocolate milk colored cream. I feel like throwing a dollop of this on top of my next frappuccino, mmm! My nose loves it, my skin loves it. It’s a must!

How I Use It: I’m a huge sucker for a good hair mask, I like throwing one on and then giving myself a good exfoliation & leg shaving. So while letting my hair mask set in for a bit, with the water turned off, I work this bathhouse butter into my skin. When it comes time to rinse my hair, I rinse my skin and we’re good to go! I told my husband that he should give this a try before he gets in the shower then let it gradually rinse off his body while he washes his hair & such. I suppose you probably could use it while you’re taking your regular shower, I just like to give myself some extra time to reap all the benefits this exfoliating butter has to offer! Treat yourself, give yourself some time to drink it into your skin.

Bellaroma Boutique’s Exfoliating Whipped Coffee Butter can be purchased via the Bellaroma Etsy Shoppe or at bellaromaboutique.com for $11.50 per 4oz. jar. Seriously, I need to find a second job or have someone supply me with an Etsy giftcard so I can just stock up on Bellaroma products – I’m so obsessed at this point!

Motions Oil Moisturizer Extra Conditioning Oil Sheen Spray

Shiny Hair, eeee!

Recently I took my black burgundy hair through the exhausting process of bleaching, then dying it…twice. In addition, my hair is coarse & wavy – therefore it’s not hard for me to look like a dried out, crazy mess! It’s not just chemicals damaging my hair, genetics play the main roll in this. Wavy girls, you know what I’m sayin’!

Okay, so for these reasons, I am addicted to Ethnic hair products. They’re so much more nourishing & helpful than the regular stuff you pick up at the store. And for serious, the prices are pretty spot on too!

Shine spray is one of my favorite inventions of all time! It’s so vital in the whole healthy hair look & feel. There are a million out there by everyone under the sun, but my personal favorite right now is Motions Oil Sheen & Conditioning Spray. Not only are you getting an incredible luster without being too heavy or making you look greasy, but it’s helping your hair too! I mean, “conditioning” is in the title, you know? A light mist over your hair will leave you looking so stunning, smooth & put together. I just love this stuff so much! I started searching the net to see what other people had to say and I’m currently in the running for number one fan with about a million other people! I’m not alone! :D

Here’s one of the best parts, it’s only $3.99 for 11.25oz! I’ve been addicted to Chi Infusion Shine Spray for awhile now, and that’s around $11 per bottle for a 5.3oz bottle. And while I love the smell of the Chi spray, it sticks with your hair – I’ll definitely pick Motions for not only the price, but the quality is the best! In addition, Motions is available just about everywhere. Get it, you’ll love it!

Two coats of Colette with two coats of Truffle Shuffle

Colette from Zoya is one that I had not heard of until I actually clicked around on their site more. I really dig it, though! It’s one of those interesting browns that gets overlooked for some reason. $8, Zoya.com

I Love NP is an “extra awesome boutique nail polish” shop on, where? Oh you guessed it, ETSY! :D I Love NP has an incredible amount of absolutely awesome glitter polishes for every lady, every mood. I mean, there are a few solid shades too, but you can’t help but get overly distracted by the gorgeous glitters! Full sizes are $10 per bottle, or you can opt for the Ultra Minis, like the one pictured here, for only $3.75! Craziness!

Be prepared for most posts from I Love NP cause it’s true, I really do love NP! ;)

Super Sniffer!

Wax melts have been HUGE lately, and for good reason! It’s shown that using a wax heater is far more safe rather than just lighting a candle. Makes sense, right? No exposed flame, no worrying about it burning to that terrifying level where it could just burst into flames, the cats can’t see that dancing flame and try to play in it, and so on and so forth. These wax melts provide hours of continual fragrance while being so ridiculously convenient!

So with this, the market for these awesome little wax melts has exploded! Everyone is offering a variety of scents, allowing you to mix & match and switch up your scents in no time! And the wax burners? Please, there’s one for everyone! The leader in the market would probably have to be Scentsy, right? Trust me, I’m a Scentsy gal! You hand me a sampler bag and I’ve got a list of “Wants” that could go on for days! But today, I’ll introduce you to some of my other faves – all from one of my biggest loves, ETSY!!! :D

soyNsuds

soyNsuds

soyNsuds is one of my personal favorites! As you can see, I’ve started a collection from Roxane’s incredible work. Right now she’s running a Spring Fling sale with almost all of her items on sale! Had I stumbled upon her goodies earlier, I would’ve shared them then but I’m filling you in now - her wax tarts are normally around $3.50 but currently on sale for $2.75! The quality? Indescribable! Seriously, my husband is even obsessed with these guys! He immediately picked up Crackling Firewood and ran into the “Man Cave” to start burning it, haha!  I would walk past that room and just inhale the woodsy smokey aroma, mmm!

The spring weather here in Wisconsin has been far less than desirable. While I normally like cozy, warm scents during colder weather – I refused to let Mother Nature snow on my parade, so I plugged Pineapple into the majority of my wax warmers to feel like I was in some sort of tropical paradise. A girl’s gotta do, what a girl’s gotta do, right?!

The other thing I like about soyNsuds? Shop owner, Roxane, is a fellow Wisconsinite! Represent!

Check out the wax tarts and various other delightful smell goods that Roxane has to offer from soyNsuds on her Etsy site immediately! There’s over 500 different goods on there, you’re bound to find something you’ll obsess over! I could recommend a million but I’m just going to let you sniff it out :)

******** UPDATE! Use coupon codes REPEAT15 to receive 15% off your order or FREESHIP for free shipping on U.S. order over $50!**************

Tinseltown Candles

Tinseltown Candles

Tinseltown Candles is just so fun! I mean, just look at those names! You know with that the shop owner, Kristie, has a great sense of smell – and humor! ;)  Scents like The Sum of All Beers, New Money, Absinthe, Tobacco Leaves, Vick’s Vapor Rub, and soooo many other unique different types! You’ll definitely find something that you’re going to get a good laugh – and a good whiff out of it! I’m currently trying to decide which other ones I should get my mitts on next…hmmm. What to choose, what to choose…

$3.49 per wax tart pack is a phenomenal price! Great price, great quality!

The Coconutty Professor is currently filling my living room and intermingling with the Pineapple wax tarts from soyNsuds melting in the other rooms. Pina Colada, anyone? :)

The Little Candle Co.

The Little Candle Co.

The Little Candle Co. is listed as “littlecandles” on Etsy so it might be a little tricky to find BUT you’re going to want to find it! And, like, NOW! $3.50 per wax pack, oh yes!

With more of a primitive design, your mom is really going to dig these, but so will you! The scents mostly follow a cozy, comforting theme that will also surely remind you of your momma baking up some tasty treats for you while you’re wrapped in the most luxurious blanket ever! (I’m trying not to take a nap just as I type that!) Cozy, cozy, cozy!

Yankee Candle had a Root Beer candle awhile back that I just could not get over, for whatever reason. This wax tart puts that candle to shame! You’re transported into a summer picnic just with one sniff of this baby. I can’t get over how much I adore it!

German Chocolate Cake is just the right balance of all scents & flavors that make up this classic treat. Have you ever noticed when you get anything scented with chocolate that you end up with some overly powerful waxy chocolate scented garbage? No, not the case here AT ALL. I really can’t describe this, you just have to trust that me that this coconutty-chocolate delicacy is something you want warming up in your home.

Ready for the very best part?!

SAMPLES!!!

SAMPLES!!!

One of my favorite part of getting treats from Etsy is the fact that almost all of these shops send you samples of their products! Very smart on their part cause this girl definitely falls for it and ends up getting more because of that alone! Bravo, Etsy babes, bravo for sure!

My Mom has always said that your house isn’t clean unless it smells clean. So with these wax tarts, even if I have a room full of dog hair and a sink full of dishes, I feel like my house is clean! haha! :) I’m giving you permission to go buy some of these to make your house “clean”! ;)
