(Okay, come to find out that the pictures STILL aren’t working when posting here so I’m just going to type this bad boy out, post it and try to figure out what the heck is going on with the pictures and load ’em later! Sorry, guys!)
Anywhos! Recently I was lucky enough to score a full sized sample of the brand spankin’ new Jergens Wet Skin Moisturizer. For so long, customers have been coming into the store asking for “in shower lotion”, and for awhile, Olay had one specifically for that. Then they got rid of it in stores so the closest thing we could come to was the Olay Quench Body Wash. But recently, lines like Nivea have come out with their very own “in shower lotion” so I was assuming that this new stuff from Jergens was just hopping on that bandwagon. WELL, I was wrong! You got that?! Wrong-o!
What it is is actually a lotion that you put on immediately after you step out of the shower. That’s right, while you’re sopping freaking wet you put it on your skin and then you pat yourself dry!
Now, when I first read this I was thinking that the whole idea was just ridiculously stupid. How in the H is this lotion supposed to work when you’re skin is just covered in water and then you just basically wipe it off?! Also, I don’t know about everyone else, but I’m freezing when I step out of my shower so grabbing that towel right away is a big treat. But, alas, I gave it some tries for the sake of the getmyhandsnerdy readers
First off I just tried it on my hands to see if I would notice anything different. Admittedly, there was no change with my skin on that demo. So, after a couple showers I hopped out of the shower, quickly wrapped my hair up in a glorious Turbie-Twist and slathered the stuff all over!
First of all, let me say this – it’s kind of messy! You’ve got water and lotion flying every which way because you are trying so hard to get it done quickly so you can get yourself in that warm towel, haha! But, I also tend to use a liberal amount of lotion-y products so you more than likely don’t need to use as much as I typically do! The directions say a dime sized amount for each arm and a quarter size for each leg. I never really understand how they have that on directions because I know for a fact that we don’t all have the same amount of skin coverage to take care of! But, whatever, we all figure out our own ratios!
So I put it on, I pat it off – and pay attention here, you have to PAT it off. Don’t go dramatically rubbing the towel all over your body because that’ll just completely defeat the purpose of this wet skin lotion. You pat your skin so it’s dry, but a little dewy. After that you can get dressed and move along with your day!
I have to say that I was highly, highly skeptical with this product. I thought that there would be no way that it would work as well as a regular lotion and that it would be a giant hassle, when actually, it is quite the opposite! It’s soooo quick and soooo easy! My skin feels nice & soft, but not greasy or sticky at all! I mean, it’s probably not going to give you a giant moisture kick, but if you’re looking for something that’ll give you some easy going smooth skin every day, you’ll definitely want to give this a shot!
The Jergens Wet Skin Moisturizer that I sampled was with Nourishing Monoi Oil. It has a very light, pleasant fragrance that I think most people could agree with. The scent doesn’t hold on my skin, but I also hose myself down with a billion other things so I guess I can handle that it’s not battling anything else. I know that Jergens also released two other scents, but the Monoi Oil is the only one I’ve been able to find anywhere. It retails for about $7.99 at most stores.
What do you think?! Would you be willing to battle the cold for a few seconds for a good, quick moisture kick?!
